Hair transplant or hair replacement is a procedure in which a dermatologist moves follicles from one part of the scalp (donor site) to a bald area of the head (recipient site).
What is a hair transplant ?
Hair transplant or hair replacement is a procedure in which a dermatologist moves follicles from one part of the scalp (donor site) to a bald area of the head (recipient site). The surgeon usually moves follicles from the back or side of the head (as they are generally resistant to balding) to the front or top of the head. Hair transplants are done under local anesthesia.
Pattern baldness is responsible for the majority of hair loss which can be due to a variety of factors, including:
- Genetics
- Diet
- Stress
- Illness
- Hormonal imbalance
- Medications

Different types of hair transplants
Hair transplant can be done by two procedures: slit grafts and micrografts.
In Slit grafts, you get 4 to 10 follicles per graft while in micrografts, you get one or two follicles per graft, depending on the amount of bald area to be covered.
Do you need a hair transplant ?
Receiving a hair transplant can give you immense self-confidence which you might have been lacking ever since you experience hair loss. You will make a good candidate for hair replacement if you have one of the following conditions:
- Men with male-pattern baldness.
- Women with thinning hair.
- Anyone who has lost some hair due to any reason.
But hair replacement is not for you if:
- Women with a hair loss throughout the scalp.
- If there is a lack of donor sites on your scalp.
- If you have a scar on your scalp after injury or surgery.
- If your hair loss is due to medication like chemotherapy.

What happens after the hair transplant ?
- Pain medication.
- Antibiotics to reduce your risk of infection.
- Anti-inflammatory medications to keep swelling down.
Another issue that people come up with after the surgery is that transplanted hair-fall out after two to three weeks after the procedure. But it’s completely normal. This makes way for new hair to grow.
Here at “Advanced Hair Studio”, these side effects are not seen very often. Most people can return to their work just several days after surgery!
Complications associated with a hair transplant
Hair transplant treatment might show some minor side effects but they clear up within a few weeks. Some side effects that might persist are:
- Bleeding
- Infection
- Swelling of scalp
- Bruising around eyes
- A crust on the areas of the scalp where hair was removed or implanted
- Lack of sensation on the treated areas
- Itching
These side effects are only for a short duration but people who’ve had a hair transplant will continue to grow hair in the transplanted areas of the scalp. It’s important to discuss all the doubts with your surgeon before-hand and develop realistic expectations.

Here at “Advanced Hair Studio”, we take care of our clients and make sure that we clear each and every doubt they have until they are completely satisfied. Ensuring customer satisfaction by providing the best quality facilities and procedure is our primary goal.
