What Are the Symptoms of Hair Fall?

The symptoms of hair loss vary depending on its cause and also the individual. Some common symptoms of hair loss have been mentioned below:

  1. Gradual thinning on top of the head: This is the most common symptom of hair loss occurring in both men and women. Men usually experience receding hair at the hairline on their forehead whereas in women, broadening of the part of the hair is more common. In elderly women, receding hairline also known as frontal fibrosing alopecia mostly occurs.
  2. Patchy or circular bald spots: Several people experience hair loss in the form of patchy or circular bald spots. These spots can appear on the scalp, eyebrows as well as beard. The skin may also become painful or itchy in such cases before the hair falls out.
  3. Loosening of hair: At times, altogether clusters of hair suddenly start coming out while combing, washing or tugging the hair. This loosening of hair is usually a result of physical or mental shock. This form of hair loss is temporary but can result in overall hair thinning.
  4. Full-body hair loss: The primary cause of full-body hair loss is a medical condition such as chemotherapy which takes place in cancer. The hair from all over the body might shed for a temporary period and regrow naturally in the due course.
  5. Scaling patches over the scalp: Patches of scaling might spread over the scalp and be accompanied by broken hair, swelling, redness or oozing. This is a sure sign of ringworm and must be treated immediately.

If you experience these symptoms for a longer time, it will be better to book an appointment with the doctor. Sudden hair loss can be a sign of an underlying medical condition and must be treated timely.

What Are the Possible Reasons for Hair Fall?

Losing 50-100 hair a day is considered normal if your hair is growing back. However, if you are shedding more than the acceptable amount of hair, there can be multiple reasons for it. Some of these reasons have been listed below:

  1. Hereditary reasons: Androgenic alopecia, a hereditary hair loss condition that happens with aging is very common. It is also known by the name of male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness. This type of hair loss occurs in a predictable pattern and can lead to receding hairline as well as bald spots.
  2. Hormonal and medical reasons: One of the major reasons for hair fall in females can be hormonal changes caused by childbirth, menopause or thyroid conditions. Further, alopecia areata, a medical condition can also lead to patchy hair loss, scalp infection and trichotillomania (a hair-pulling disorder).
  3. Supplements and medicines: The drugs consumed on an everyday basis can be another reason for hair loss. Drugs used for depression, heart problems, high blood pressure, arthritis and cancer can cause hair fall problems.
  4. Hairstyles and treatments: Excessive hair treatments and styling can be another cause of hair fall. Hairstyles that pull the hair tight can lead to traction alopecia. Additionally, hot-oil hair treatments can also weaken the hair and cause permanent hair loss. Not just in females, but this is a common reason for hair fall in males as well.
  5. Stress: Another factor that can lead to hair fall is excessive stress. Stress concerning everyday life impacts our body in more ways than we know of. People might experience a thinning of hair during stressful periods of life. Even though this kind of hair fall is temporary it can be dangerous.

Is It Normal to Lose Hair in the Fall?

Discussing hair fall problems becomes so relatable for everybody during a certain season, ever wondered why? It is because it’s normal to lose hair in the fall.

Our hair also follows a cycle of growing and shedding which happens in sync with the weather. During summers, our hair develops a heavier crown to protect the scalp from the harmful UV rays. However, this heavy crown starts falling out around the end of August and continues to fall for the entire fall.

There can be instances when you feel that your hair fall is excessive even after considering the fall season. You might end up wondering how much hair fall is normal in a day for male and how much hair fall is normal in a day for females. The answer to this is that a person sheds an average of 100 hairs a day from the total average of 100,000 follicles which can increase slightly during the fall.

However, if your hair does not grow back and you start observing bald spots then you must consult a dermatologist because you might be suffering from alopecia areata. Furthermore, you must also consult a professional expert in case of a feeling of inflammation, redness, bumps or blisters in the places you are losing hair.

It is painless when you pull but extremely painful when you see a missing patch on your scalp. But, I feel blessed with AHS hair fall treatment. I can see baby hair growing. It’s been two weeks. All I can see is low hair fall.

I have done my hair transplant surgery in AHS Delhi Branch on 2019 by travelling to Delhi from Dhaka, Bangladesh. The front and the back portion of my head were bald and through the hair transplant surgery, they have managed to cover the front portion of my head and the former appearance of my face returned back. The way they collected hairs from the donor portion did not affect my donor area at all. I am quite happy with my result. I have been consulting with them for a second seating so that they can cover the back portion of my head as well so that the hair density on top will increase and the bald portion of my head will reduce to a minimum level.
