1. Comb Test:Comb from the back of the top of your head forward to the front of the scalp for one minute before you shampoo your hair. Do it over a white or light colored bed sheet, and then count the hair on the sheet.
2. Pull Test:Take about 60 hair between your fingers and pull a little bit as you run your fingers through your hair. It’s normal to see five to eight hair in your hand. If you have 15 to 20 hairs, though, you are losing much more hair than usual.

Experts say you can test the number of hair you lose by pulling a piece of hair containing about 60 hair away from your scalp and slowly running your hand down it. Normally, between 5 and 8 strands will come loose.
