Over the past few years, there have been significant changes in the field of hair transplant surgery. In contrast to the highly specialized cosmetic surgical hair loss treatment, the social media, radio, television, and traditional print media market the susceptible hair loss consumer with risk-free and guaranteed products. For you to know what to look for in a hair transplant surgeon, this article is meant to point you in a more sincere route.

Additionally, all surgical techniques and tools are user-dependent, and if untrained, inexperienced professionals use them, there is a very real risk of serious disfigurement.

Patients must conduct adequate research to find a qualified hair transplant surgeon in today’s rapidly expanding, brand-driven, multibillion-dollar hair transplant business.

Modern hair restoration surgery requires a collaborative effort to complete. The surgeon uses a scalpel tool to take off donor tissue from the back of the patient’s scalp, stitches (or staples) the area shut, and then gives the tissue to their technicians to dissect into individual follicular units as grafts. However, this technique makes up less than 30% of all hair restoration surgeries.

These grafts are implanted by a group of technicians working under the surgeon’s direction.

What to Know About Hair Restoration Surgery?

Your scalp could be extremely tender after the procedure. You might need to take painkillers as prescribed by the surgeon for a few days. For a minimum of a day or two, your surgeon will order you to wear bandages over your scalp. They can also advise you to take an antibiotic or an anti-inflammatory medication for a few days.

The transplanted hair will fall out 2 to 3 weeks following surgery, but you should start to see new hair regrowth in 3 to 6 months. After 6 to 9 months, most people will notice 60% of new hair growth. Most patients can return to normal a week after the procedure.

Things to Consider in Hair Transplant Surgeon

Significant improvements in hair transplantation have been made in recent years. To reconstruct the hairline, hair restoration doctors now employ methods and techniques that are technologically advanced. But given that the surgeon is the main factor in every surgery, technical developments have little effect on improving hair transplant surgeries. You should choose a hair transplant surgeon carefully and diligently because all surgical tools are user-dependent, and untrained or underqualified surgeons run the risk of causing major and irreversible disfigurement.

  1. Experience
  2. You should always emphasise experience when choosing the best hair restoration surgeon because hair restoration is a complicated technique that can only be mastered by performing surgery repeatedly. Never be afraid to request proof of experience and work to determine the precise number of years the surgeon has completely dedicated to hair restoration and the hair restoration techniques they have practised.

  3. Qualification and Expertise
  4. Even though hair restoration surgery is a non-invasive technique, it still takes extensive training and expertise. Thus, the surgeon must have a wealth of experience, education, skills, and inventiveness. You don’t want to risk your head to a surgeon who lacks sophisticated surgical abilities. It would be beneficial if you avoided being duped by deceptive commercials that make extravagant claims without supporting evidence.

Please make it a point to learn more about the surgeon’s credentials, including board certifications, degrees, experience, and training. By following these steps, you may be sure that the surgeon you choose has a solid reputation, is skilled and experienced, can manage complex and unforeseen medical issues, and adheres to high patient safety standards.

  5. Facilities
  6. The standard of the facilities, tools, and technology used at the clinic should be one of your top priorities when choosing a hair restoration surgeon. You must carefully inspect the operating room and medical facilities to ensure the hair restoration clinic complies with international standards and is equipped to manage any emergency.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on today’s hard times, ensuring the clinic adheres to the highest standards of patient safety and social seclusion is essential. To avoid COVID-19 transmission, the clinic must have stringent staff and visitor procedures that require everyone to wear a mask. The clinic must also undergo routine sanitization to adhere to strict infection prevention and control guidelines.

  7. Cost and Success Rate
  8. Surgery for hair restoration is a complicated and specialised process. You shouldn’t be discouraged from speaking with a hair restoration expert who charges a reasonable consultation or hair fall treatment price, even if most hair restoration clinics offer no-obligation, free in-person or online consultations to win over new clients.

The outcome of any surgical procedure, including hair restoration surgery, depends critically on the surgeon’s training, experience, and technical proficiency. To save money, you should never settle for less qualified surgeons.

  9. Reviews and Testimonials
  10. You can receive crucial insights into how patients are cared for at the medical facility by learning more about the surgeon’s experiences, patient comments, and the hair loss treatment methods used on those patients. It will help if you see the before and after photos of patients who have already undergone hair transplant surgery. You can look out for unbiased reviews for this on other websites or social media channels.

Reading reviews of the surgeon’s support staff is extremely important because cutting-edge hair restoration surgery requires a team effort.

Questions to ask Hair Surgeon

Questions to ask Hair Surgeon
  • Who will assess my hair loss and make a therapy recommendation? What education, training, licensure, and hair loss treatment experience do they have? The only professionals who are legally permitted to diagnose patients and provide hair treatment recommendations are doctors, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. Without a license, the person advocating operations and hair treatments is engaging in unauthorized medical practice, which is illegal.

  • Who will perform my procedure, what role will they play, and what are their qualifications for performing hair restoration surgery in terms of education, training, licensure, and experience?

  • Will anyone who isn’t authorized by the Medical Board be performing my surgery’s incisions or collecting the grafts? If yes, kindly name this individual, describe their precise responsibilities and explain the legal basis for their performance.

  • Is malpractice insurance provided for all parties participating in my surgery?

  • Make sure all inquiries are satisfactorily addressed at the appointment before insisting on seeing a doctor. Avoid the clinic if the surgeon who would be performing the procedure isn’t there when your consultation appointment is scheduled.

  • It would help if you also noticed how the office is operated during the in-person consultation. Is the clinic or office spotless and organised? Is the front desk staff accommodating, considerate, and ready to respond to inquiries regarding payments, insurance, etc.?
  • We often stress that you shouldn’t feel compelled to decide before you’re ready. It is an essential issue. You should feel free to take as much time as you require.

    What to Avoid

As previously mentioned, excessively advertised mass-market hair clinics can deceive people unaware of moral standards and secure surgical techniques. It is best to do your homework and then decide, instead of being deceived by heavy advertising making tall claims..

Only a doctor has the training and monitoring from a medical board to maintain high patient safety standards, handle unforeseen medical issues, and have sworn to work in your best interests while caring for you. You should look elsewhere if your doctor violates their oath by allowing technicians to perform surgery for them.

Beware of any red flags or alarming instances you may notice while consulting with the expert, and feel free to question the surgeon as much as needed.

I am honestly thankful to Advanced Hair Studios. I suffer from a hair-pulling disorder. There is this constant urge to pull off your hair follicles. It is painless when you pull but extremely painful when you see a missing patch on your scalp. But, I feel blessed with AHS hair fall treatment. I can see baby hair growing. It’s been two weeks. All I can see is low hair fall.

I have done my hair transplant surgery in AHS Delhi Branch on 2019 by travelling to Delhi from Dhaka, Bangladesh. The front and the back portion of my head were bald and through the hair transplant surgery, they have managed to cover the front portion of my head and the former appearance of my face returned back. The way they collected hairs from the donor portion did not affect my donor area at all. I am quite happy with my result. I have been consulting with them for a second seating so that they can cover the back portion of my head as well so that the hair density on top will increase and the bald portion of my head will reduce to a minimum level.

There was a lot of care and attention displayed by their staff in handling my hair fall issue. Similarly, the receptionists are both friendly and courteous, and the atmosphere is clean and fresh. This clinic deserves 5 stars.
