6 Tips on How to Handle Thick and Wavy Hair

Having thick hair is both a blessing and a curse because even though you have full hair, it becomes really a task to maintain your hair on a regular basis. The trouble with thick hair is that they are so thick and heavy that you don’t understand how to handle them and what to do to keep them healthy and strong.

If you are not able to handle your thick hair, read on below for six of our best tips:

1. Don’t skip conditioner

If you don’t deposit moisture in your hair, the cuticle will open up to let moisture from the air in, which will turn your hair from smooth to frizzy. It is recommended to use a conditioner that contains glycerin with other hydrating ingredients such as shea butter and coconut oil, and apply it from mid of the scalp to down to your ends.

2. Don’t blow-dry soaking wet hair

Your hair can become frizzy if too much hot air is focused directly on your strands which dehydrate them. Let your hair air-dry 90 percent of the way, if you have straight-to-slightly-wavy hair, and then use a dryer on it for the last 10 percent.

3. Use dry oil

Apply moisture-locking dry oil while your hair is still wet, from your ends to midway up your hair shaft. The oil acts as a barrier, keeping liquids from piercing. Once your hair is almost dry, use a round brush with mixed bristles to seal the cuticle for a smooth finish. You can also flat-iron your hair after it’s dry as nothing will seal the cuticle like strong heat.

4. Cut back on washes

In order to maintain your thick hair, the first thing you need to start doing is to skip out on some shampoos. You need to minimize your hair wash routine as the scalp’s natural oils provide moisture and shine, and washing your hair every day can strip you of those making your hair frizzy and dry. Try leaving at least one day in between washes, which will make maintaining your thick hair much easier.

5. Don’t over-dry it

Air-drying your hair isn’t always an option with thick hair, as it can literally take hours on end. On the other hand, blow drying it extremely can be damaging. So the best option is to let your hair dry partially before you even pick up the blow dryer and use it on a medium to low heat setting for best results.

6. Keep up with trims

Split ends are known for making your full, thick hair appear weak and lifeless. Hence, in order to get rid of these tough ends, make sure you get a good trim every 6-8 weeks.

I am honestly thankful to Advanced Hair Studios. I suffer from a hair-pulling disorder. There is this constant urge to pull off your hair follicles. It is painless when you pull but extremely painful when you see a missing patch on your scalp. But, I feel blessed with AHS hair fall treatment. I can see baby hair growing. It’s been two weeks. All I can see is low hair fall.

I have done my hair transplant surgery in AHS Delhi Branch on 2019 by travelling to Delhi from Dhaka, Bangladesh. The front and the back portion of my head were bald and through the hair transplant surgery, they have managed to cover the front portion of my head and the former appearance of my face returned back. The way they collected hairs from the donor portion did not affect my donor area at all. I am quite happy with my result. I have been consulting with them for a second seating so that they can cover the back portion of my head as well so that the hair density on top will increase and the bald portion of my head will reduce to a minimum level.

Hi all, I had a problem with my hair, and I visited Advanced Hair Studio, Hyderabad. Here, the experts are amazing. My low hair density problem was explained very nicely, and some solutions were suggested. The solutions were fantastic. If you have any such issues, I recommend that you come and make an appointment. There was a lot of care and attention displayed by their staff in handling my hair fall issue. Similarly, the receptionists are both friendly and courteous, and the atmosphere is clean and fresh. This clinic deserves 5 stars.
