Anxiety is body’s reaction to stressful situations. There are many symptoms of anxiety. It is very common for everyone to feel anxious from time to time, but anxiety disorders interfere with a person’s way of living a normal life.

Anxiety has both physical and mental effects. Some physical effects include trembling, nausea, sweating and headaches. Hair loss has also been categorized as one of the physical effects of anxiety. Anxiety does not typically cause immediate hair loss. However, over time it will become a concern that could potentially be one of the most traumatic experience to deal with it.

Hair loss may not directly be caused by anxiety, but constant stress is a contributing factor to it. Anxiety and stress are very similar except the fact that stress is temporary whereas anxiety is a lifelong struggle. Studies have shown that stress and anxiety lead to specific hair loss conditions like Alopecia Areata and Telogen Effluvium.

The condition in which large number of hair strands suddenly fall out leaving patches of bald spots on one’s head is known as Alopecia Areata. Alopecia Areata is one the most common types of hair loss conditions which may be a result of anxiety. Prolonged anxiety can lead to permanent hair loss creating patches of hair loss and thus exposing the scalp.

Another most common type of hair loss is Telogen Effluvium (TE). Physical or mental trauma can lead to hair loss. This is because when a person is ‘shocked’ or ‘stressed out’, hair follicles go into resting state. When hair follicles are in resting state, new hair does not grow and this leads to hair thinning. Under the right conditions and treatments, it may take about a year for your hair to go from TE state to normal state.

Reduction of key nutrients required by the hair follicles also leads to hair loss. This happens because anxiety and stress increase muscles tension, hormone production and sebum production. As the body works to prevent these issues, the supply needed for hair growth may reduce. The pores often time gets clogged with sebum which may also hinder hair growth.

It is vital to get a professional consultation done in order to understand the condition your hair and scalp is in. That is where Advanced Hair Studio’s Advanced Hair Check plays an important role. For more details call 1 800 103 1191.
