In India, the monsoon season relieves the oppressive heat and brings joy to our hearts. However, the welcome rain also brings a problem many Indians share: hair loss. Both men and women are concerned about the increased hair loss during the monsoon season. But don’t worry! This blog article will investigate the causes of this occurrence and offer practical preventative advice. So let’s investigate the monsoon hair fall world!

Why Does Hair Fall Increase in Monsoon?

Have you ever wondered why the rainy season causes your hair to shed more? There are a few explanations for this, though. First, the high humidity levels during the monsoon season can cause your scalp to become too greasy, clogging hair follicles. It might weaken the roots and cause hair fall. In addition, humid environments promote the growth of bacterial and fungal infections, which contribute to hair loss. The rainwater may also be a little acidic, harming your hair strands and increasing the likelihood of breakage. These elements work together to make the monsoon difficult on your priceless locks.

Major Causes of Hair Fall in Monsoon

While the monsoon season creates a conducive environment for hair fall, a few major causes exacerbate the issue. One of the leading causes is the need for proper monsoon hair care. Due to the constant rain, people often neglect their hair, which builds up dirt, sweat, and oil. This accumulation weakens the hair roots and eventually leads to hair fall. Another significant cause is the excessive use of hair styling products. During the monsoon, it’s best to keep your hair care routine simple and avoid using too many chemicals or heat-styling tools. Lastly, nutritional deficiencies, stress, and hormonal imbalances can also increase hair fall in the rainy season.

Is it Seasonal Hair Loss?

It’s essential to distinguish between seasonal hair fall in monsoon and more severe forms of hair loss. Seasonal hair fall in monsoon, known as telogen effluvium, is a temporary condition triggered by environmental factors like weather changes. In most scenarios, the hair loss is temporary and resolves after removing the triggering factor. You should consult a dermatologist if you notice excessive hair fall in the rainy season persisting or experience patchy hair loss.

Tips to Prevent Hair Fall in Monsoon

Tips to Prevent Hair Fall in Monsoon

Now that we understand the causes behind monsoon hair fall, let’s explore some practical tips to keep your hair healthy and minimise hair fall in monsoon:

  1. Keep your Scalp Clean
  2. Regularly wash your hair using a mild shampoo to keep your scalp clean and free from dirt and oil. Avoid hot water as it can strip away the natural oils off your scalp, leading to dryness.

  3. Condition your Hair
  4. Use a good quality conditioner after shampooing to replenish moisture and protect your hair from damage. Focus more on the lengths and ends of your hair while applying the conditioner.

  5. Avoid Excessive Styling
  6. Embrace your natural hair texture and avoid using excessive heat-styling tools. Let your hair air dry whenever possible, as excessive heat can cause brittleness and breakage.

  7. Eat a Balanced Diet
  8. Ensure you eat a diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins. Include fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and nuts in your daily meals to promote hair health from within.

  9. Stay Hydrated
  10. Drinking an adequate amount of water is essential for maintaining healthy hair. Hydration flushes out toxins from your body and keeps your hair well-nourished.

  11. Protect your Hair from Rainwater
  12. Cover your hair with a waterproof hat or an umbrella if you must step out during heavy rainfall. It will help minimise the exposure of your hair to rainwater, which can be damaging.

  13. Avoid Tying Wet Hair
  14. Wet hair is more prone to breakage. Allow your hair to air dry before tying it up to reduce the risk of damage.

  15. Trim your Hair Regularly
  16. Regular trims can help get rid of split ends and prevent further damage. Schedule a trim for 6-8 weeks to keep your hair healthy.

  17. Use Natural Hair Masks
  18. Pamper your hair with homemade hair masks from natural ingredients like yoghurt, aloe vera, and fenugreek. These masks can nourish your hair and promote hair regrowth.

When Should I See a Doctor for Hair Fall in Monsoon?

While seasonal hair fall is common during the monsoon, paying attention to any excessive hair fall that persists even after the season or if you experience other concerning symptoms is crucial. If you notice significant hair thinning or bald patches, or if your hair fall is causing you distress, it’s advisable to seek help from a hair specialist doctor. A dermatologist can evaluate your condition, identify any underlying causes, and recommend appropriate hair regrowth treatments or lifestyle changes to address the issue.

Conclusion

Although monsoon hair fall can be a short-term setback, you can lessen its effects by taking the proper care and safety measures. You can keep your hair thick and beautiful during the rainy season by caring for your scalp, feeding it, and living a healthy lifestyle. Prevention is best, but you must seek professional assistance if you develop persistent hair loss or other alarming symptoms. FAQ

  1. Why am I losing so much hair in the monsoon?
  2. High humidity levels during the monsoon are the reason for hair loss, which causes the scalp to become too greasy, clogs hair follicles, and weakens roots. Humidity encourages bacterial and fungal infections, which contribute to hair loss. Rainwater may also include a small amount of acid, which harms hair strands and increases the likelihood of breakage.

  3. Does monsoon hair fall grow back?
  4. Yes, hair usually grows back after the monsoon season, and hair loss is typically just temporary. It usually results from seasonal variables and is not a chronic issue. If, however, you continue to experience severe hair loss even after the monsoon, it is advised that you consult a professional.

  5. Which is the fastest way to stop hair fall?
  6. While there is no instant solution, some tips can help reduce hair fall. Keep your scalp clean, avoid excessive heat-styling, maintain a balanced diet, stay hydrated, and protect your hair from environmental damage. Consult a dermatologist for personalised advice and hair loss treatment options if the problem persists.

  7. Should I oil my hair in the monsoon?
  8. It’s best to avoid excessive oiling during the monsoon season. High humidity levels can make your scalp excessively oily, and over-oiling can further contribute to clogged hair follicles and fall. Opt for light, non-greasy hair products and focus on keeping your scalp clean and well-nourished.

  9. Which season has the highest Hairfall?
  10. Typically, the highest hair fall is observed during the autumn season. This phenomenon, known as seasonal shedding, is common and affects both men and women. It is a natural process where hair goes through a resting phase before new hair regrowth begins.

I am honestly thankful to Advanced Hair Studios. I suffer from a hair-pulling disorder. There is this constant urge to pull off your hair follicles. It is painless when you pull but extremely painful when you see a missing patch on your scalp. But, I feel blessed with AHS hair fall treatment. I can see baby hair growing. It’s been two weeks. All I can see is low hair fall.

I have done my hair transplant surgery in AHS Delhi Branch on 2019 by travelling to Delhi from Dhaka, Bangladesh. The front and the back portion of my head were bald and through the hair transplant surgery, they have managed to cover the front portion of my head and the former appearance of my face returned back. The way they collected hairs from the donor portion did not affect my donor area at all. I am quite happy with my result. I have been consulting with them for a second seating so that they can cover the back portion of my head as well so that the hair density on top will increase and the bald portion of my head will reduce to a minimum level.
