Having a baby is a wonderful thing; especially for a woman who undergoes a life-transforming journey. She experiences many physical changes during and after pregnancy. Hair loss is also amongst one of them. It is quite common to shed hair after pregnancy.

What causes postpartum hair loss?

Basically, Our hair growth cycle follows three phases during its life, namely anagen, catagen, and telogen. The first one is the growth phase, in which the new hair grows. In the second stage i.e. the resting phase, these new hair comes to rest and finally comes the falling phase. This cycle goes on throughout your life.

So let us see how this cycle gets affected during and after pregnancy.

Actually, the reason for excessive hair shedding is due to falling estrogen levels. Estrogen is the leading hormone that affects hair growth. It is widely known that hormonal changes take place during pregnancy.

During pregnancy, your body starts producing more estrogen and because of the increased estrogen levels, your hair first comes into the growth phase and then the resting phase of the hair growth cycle. Due to this, you may experience voluminous, luscious, and thicker hair.

But, after delivering the baby, estrogen hormone falls down drastically, prompting the hair to fall as now they enter the falling stage. So it is quite natural to see your chunks of hair falling around you.

Does breastfeeding causes hair loss?

It is a myth that breastfeeding causes hair loss. Many new moms believe that it is due to breastfeeding that hair fall occurs. But, the fact is that it is all due to the alteration in the levels of estrogen hormone and certain other factors like deprived sleep, postpartum blues, and deficiencies of essential nutrients in lactating mothers.

What you cand do to stimulate healty hair growth?

However, this excessive hair falling is temporary in most of the cases. Most of the women get their hair back to its fullness by the time their child turns one. You can deal with some extent with the severity of your postpartum hair loss by taking proper care of them.

  • Tip#1: Take a balanced diet as well as vitamins and protein supplements

I am honestly thankful to Advanced Hair Studios. I suffer from a hair-pulling disorder. There is this constant urge to pull off your hair follicles. It is painless when you pull but extremely painful when you see a missing patch on your scalp. But, I feel blessed with AHS hair fall treatment. I can see baby hair growing. It’s been two weeks. All I can see is low hair fall.

I have done my hair transplant surgery in AHS Delhi Branch on 2019 by travelling to Delhi from Dhaka, Bangladesh. The front and the back portion of my head were bald and through the hair transplant surgery, they have managed to cover the front portion of my head and the former appearance of my face returned back. The way they collected hairs from the donor portion did not affect my donor area at all. I am quite happy with my result. I have been consulting with them for a second seating so that they can cover the back portion of my head as well so that the hair density on top will increase and the bald portion of my head will reduce to a minimum level.
